This program will dive into the basics of consumer lending, whether your financial institution manually underwrites loans or uses an automated credit decision model. It will cover typical loan policy content and types of consumer loans, including mortgages, installment loans, and revolving credit.

You’ll learn to compliantly conduct a comprehensive loan interview and thoroughly complete a loan application. Underwriting basics will be provided with examples of calculating debt-to-income and loan-to-value ratios, reading credit reports, and using credit scoring models. You’ll discover how to take collateral to secure your loan, including determining the collateral’s owner, perfecting your interest, and monitoring.
