The New Markets Tax Credit Program (NMTC) was established in December 2000.  Development of this program was a collaborative effort involving the U.S. Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund, the IRS, the NMTC Coalition, community development entities (CDEs) and others, including the presenter’s firm.  The Reznick Group is a recognized leader in providing assurance, tax, transactional and consulting services for the New Markets Tax Credit program.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER – Gary Perlow, CPA, Reznick Group

Gary is the Co-Managing Principal of Reznick Group’s Baltimore office; a member of the firm’s National Real Estate and Tax Credit Services Practice; and oversees the firm’s NMTC Practice Group.  With the firm for 20+ years, he specializes in advising nonprofits, developers, community development entities, syndicators, investment bankers, financial intermediaries and investors on evaluating investment opportunities, preparation of CDE and NMTC applications, and the structuring of equity sources, financing options and investment alternatives.

In addition, Gary has worked closely with the CDFI Fund, CDEs, the National NMTC Coalition and other groups connected with the NMTC Program since its inception in December 2000.  As an industry leader, he is a frequent speaker at NMTC conferences, has published related articles, and assisted the newly-formed National New Markets Tax Credit Coalition in designing various prototype investment models utilizing the credit for both training and investor presentations.
