Law enforcement is the end user for all Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filings. Deciding whether or not to file a SAR will directly impact their ability to investigate and ultimately convict those in violation of the Bank Secrecy Act. The narrative and supporting documentation on a SAR could be fill in critical holes or even be the cornerstone of an investigation. Knowing when to file and what information to provide is vital.
This session addresses the types of crimes to report, requirements on supporting documentation and working with law enforcement. It also addresses National Security Letters, 314a and OFAC matches.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER – Deborah Crawford, gettechnical, inc.
Deborah is president of gettechnical inc., formerly Technical Training Systems. She specializes in the education of financial institution employees and officers in the area of deposit account laws, new account documentation, complex compliance regulations and IRAs. She began her banking career with Hibernia National Bank, and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Louisiana State University.
